Welcome to the Uckfield Art Group's website. Our ethos is based on our motto - ‘Painting for Pleasure'.
We are an informal group of around 25 regular members who meet regularly to enjoy and develop our art. There are members from all abilities and ages (16+). We celebrate successes and although we have no formal tutor we use the expertise within the group to help those who need advice or encouragement.
The group meets every Tuesday from 6:45-9pm in Uckfield's Luxford Centre, at the top of the Luxford Carpark, just off Uckfield High Street. Members bring their own supplies and work on their own painting and drawing projects in the convivial and supportive atmosphere. We hold two main exhibitions per year to showcase our work.
Our 2024 winter exhibition is on Saturday, November 16, with the summer event planned for next June.
The summer show this past June was a great success with a steady stream of art enthusiasts coming through the doors admiring the work of our new and longer term members, Our refreshments of cakes, home backed savouries and hot drinks were as popular as ever.
Each show there is a vote for the most admired and popular picture for which the artist wins the Tom Broad Award. The award was created in honour of our long-term member Tom, after his death over ten years ago. He and his wife Nellie Broad, who predeceased him, had helped establish the Uckfield Art Group in the 60s.
For more details about upcoming exhibitions see the follow us on Facebook or Instagram. If you wish to know more about joining the group see our About Us page. We always welcome new members.
Our Members' Work
Our members work on personal projects in many different media. Some may be considered crafts and others are traditional works of art for hanging on the wall or for reproduction to sell as cards and prints.
